GOAL SHARE: Meet Dani Rooney of Old Pine Candle Co

I moved to this small mountain town outside of Denver about 4 and ½ years ago with a dream to escape the city, raise my children in flannel on trails and have a community of people who love the outdoors, Earth and adventure. I decided to truly take my time to dig into building a community and let myself bask in this vision board of a goal come to life of owning a home in the mountains.

I met a few small business owners along the way as the town was pretty quaint when we first moved here which led me to a kismet meeting on the floor of my living room with Dani Rooney. We didn’t have much furniture yet but I had a coffee machine and an old vintage rug so I invited Dani over and we sat on a rug with espressos for about 2 hours and the rest is history. We have been supporting one another’s businesses ever since, she with the candles and me with the goals.

Over seven years ago, in a tiny house in Denver, the idea to create clean-burning, long-lasting candles began to whisper to my husband Ryan and me. Unsure of exactly where we were headed, we started researching, testing and even pouring our first candles into old salsa jars for friends. Eventually the pieces fell into place and Old Pine Candle Co was born. 

Today, as a team of 5 and located in Evergreen, CO, we are so proud of how Old Pine has grown and evolved. But, we know there are exciting steps ahead of us and we look to 2022 as a year of growth.

One of our goals for 2022 is to introduce the magic of Old Pine to more people, in more stores, in more towns in Colorado and across the US. We want to significantly grow our wholesale market and create sustainable relationships with the right people.

It is also an exciting goal this year to work to relocate our cozy candle studio above our garage to a larger facility that will allow us to spread our wings a bit more, create and grow as a company. 

But above all, I want to consistently support our tight-knit Old Pine team with competitive wages, work-life balance and create an affordable, high-quality product that provides a bit of sweet calm from the chaos of life.

We are excited to see where 2022 takes us and how our growing candle company can continue to strive to make the world a cozier place.
